Fiscal year 2027 Grant Program Announced

The Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors (Board) has announced the fiscal year (FY) 2027 Grant Program.  The Board received legislative approval to offer one-time grants for state programs providing education in engineering and surveying leading to professional licensure.

A total of up to $600,000 will be awarded through the Board’s 2027 grant program. There is no minimum amount that may be requested. The Board, at its discretion, will determine how many applicants will receive funds and in what amount.  This is a reimbursable grant.  No funds will be extended in advance.

Proposals from the following types of educational programs are eligible to apply for grant funding:

  • Four-year Bachelor of Science degree engineering programs accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc.

  • Two-year Associate Degree programs offering surveying curricula.

  • Four-year Bachelor of Science degrees programs deemed by the Board as supporting the educational requirements for surveying licensure including:

    • Engineering,

    • Mathematics,

    • Forestry, GIS, and

    • Cartography.

As a part of the grant application for surveying and surveying-related programs, verification must be provided that the program complies with surveying curriculum requirements, that the program is active at the time of the application, and that graduates of the program pursue a career in surveying.

Grant applications must be submitted on or before September 30, 2026, by the authorized contracting representative of the institution offering the academic program intending to use the awarded funds. Multiple applications may be submitted by an institution. However, the intent of the Board is to distribute funds to as many qualified applicants as possible. The Board anticipates notifying all applicants of their award decisions by October 21, 2026.
